Currently Stitching: Embroidered Greeting Cards
I think it would be fair to say that I have been sucked into the embroidery world. And I gotta tell you, it's a lot of fun in here! For those of you still resisting the pull, just give in. There are just to many fun and cute things to sew, after a while how many reasons can you come up with not to make some of these projects?

My focus is in machine embroidery. If a machine and the required materials and tools are not something you're interested in, check out some hand embroidery projects. I'm not sure I can quite describe what it is that's so fun about it. It's just so sweet at the end of the day to have a flower or a note or just a little something sweet that's been stitched out just for you. Or for someone you love! Or for a customer custom order!

So let's get to it! Today we're making embroidered cards!

There are an overwhelming number of embroidered greeting card patterns out there. I've chosen to design packs from websites and designers I know I can trust. Today we're sewing from the OESD Cheeky Greeting Cards pack.
I try to keep an eye on the stitch count when it comes to cards. Remember that these are paper projects, not fabric. The more stitches, the more stabilizers and the thicker cards you're going to need. When you're shopping for designs, take a loot at the instructions or info page. It'll tell you the colors and stitch count for each design.
Something I don't spend a lot of time worrying about is color matching. I say pick the colors you like, work with the thread you have, and build yourself a thread stash one project at a time. Or, if you want it exactly like the picture, order the bundles.
For the most part I use 40 weight poly blend thread, and then matching bobbin color or 80 weight bobbin thread.
We're going to start by making THIS DESIGN
I've got my colors picked out and their matching bobbins. I mentioned using another kind or color for the bobbin, which you are welcome to do. But for this card I want the front and the back to be similar in color and display.
